Dr Alex Evans

Alex Evans is a nonprofit sector practitioner, senior leader and the author of Barely Civil Society, the nonprofit politics blog. With nearly three decades of experience in the voluntary sector - from frontline delivery and fundraising through to CEO and director roles - he now works as an independent consultant to charities and funders on strategy, leadership and organisational change.

He writes and speaks on the deeper structural questions the sector tends to avoid: the relationship between charity and power, the political economy of philanthropy, and what a genuinely transformative role for civil society might look like. Alex is a former academic and holds a PhD in cultural and critical theory.
